Explora opens a second lodge in Torres del Paine

On its own conservation reserve

This December, Explora will open Explora Torres del Paine Conservation Reserve, a ten-room lodge on the edge of Torres del Paine National Park. It is the company's second lodge in the area, and a quieter one: the property sits inside a private reserve of nearly 15,000 acres (about 6,000 hectares), two hours from Puerto Natales.

A different side of Torres del Paine

The reserve is a working estancia, restored and protected, where native wildlife and gaucho traditions share the landscape. The rooms look out to the Torres peaks or to native forest, so the view is the one clients picture when they book Patagonia, without the crowds of the busiest viewpoints. Days move between hiking, horseback riding and time on the reserve itself, and the evenings often end with a traditional asado at the quincho.

The property

• Scale: 10 rooms, which keeps the experience personal.

• Programme: All-inclusive, with more than 30 guided explorations, from hikes to horseback rides. [Confirm what is included: meals, beverages, park entrance fees and transfers.]

• Wellness: hot tubs, sauna and a massage room for the end of the day.

• Conservation: the reserve is part of the Torres del Paine Biosphere Reserve and was created with The Nature Conservancy. Guests stay inside an active restoration project.

For clients who already know Torres del Paine, this lodge offers a way to see it again from a new angle. For first-time visitors, it works as a base at a more intimate scale. It also pairs naturally with Explora Torres del Paine, inside the national park, for itineraries that combine both settings.
